The Duluth hospitality market grew by 80 rooms and several modern amenities on June 16 with the opening of the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in neighboring Hermantown, Minnesota – just two days before Grandma’s Marathon.

“Our plan has always been to open in mid-June, but we didn’t want to take reservations until we were open and could fully serve our guests,” said General Manager Brianna Vander Heyden. “But Weis Builders did a great job keeping everything on schedule, so if people are still without hotel rooms for Grandma’s Marathon, we’re open and here to help!”

Reservations may be made by calling 218-722-0909 or online at hiexpress.com/duluthnorth.

Owned and operated by Duluth-based Lion Hotel Group, the five-story Holiday Inn Express & Suites is located near the intersection of Highway 53 and Haines Road. Twenty-four of the 80 rooms are suites, and the hotel features an outdoor patio area, indoor pool, hot tub, fitness center, business center and guest laundry, as well as complimentary Wi-Fi and breakfast. A 24-hour market is also available for guests to purchase beverages and snacks.

“Guests are not only going to love our modern accommodations and excellent service, but also our convenient location,” added Vander Heyden. “We’re close to the airport and the Miller Hill Mall, and just minutes from Canal Park and Lake Superior.”

To accommodate air travelers using the nearby Duluth International Airport, the hotel has ample parking for overnight and Park & Fly guests, while also providing extra-wide pull-through lanes for larger vehicles and trailers.

Shawn McLaughlin, the hotel’s Director of Sales & Marketing, said both the new hotel and Lion Hotel Group’s Holiday Inn & Suites in downtown Duluth are part of the IHG Rewards Club, the world’s first hotel loyalty program, which offers members the ability to earn and redeem points at more than 4,800 IHG hotels worldwide.

Lion Hotel Group, a division of Labovitz Enterprises, owns and operates the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Hermantown; the Holiday Inn & Suites in downtown Duluth; the Home2 Suites by Hilton in Bloomington, Minnesota; the Holiday Inn in Bozeman, Montana; Hilton Garden Inn in Palm Coast, Florida; Courtyard by Marriott in Beavercreek, Ohio; and Residence Inn by Marriott in Beavercreek, Ohio.
